The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and will shut on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home which has a combined gross domestic earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined household revenue won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or plan to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
